Psoriasis Herbs

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease characterized by the rapid growth of new skin cells. As a result, new skin cells will continue to accumulate on the surface to form a thick red and scaly spot.

The most common type is plaque psoriasis. About 8 in 10 people with psoriasis have this kind. Plaque psoriasis causes raised, inflamed, red skin covered with silvery, white scales. These patches may itch and burn. It can appear anywhere on your body, but it often pops up in these knees, elbows, scalp or lower back area.

When the spots being scratched, the surface of the patches (scales) will drop and if it is scratched strongly, it will lead to injury and bleeding. Psoriasis plaque can join together and form a large area of blister on the skin.

However, to increase the effectiveness of herbal medicine and expediting the healing process, TCM recommends for herbal medicines in conjunction with acupuncture treatments. This is because acupuncture treatment can strengthen the immune system and stimulating the blood flow in the body.
